Textile engineering internship

Bcomp Ltd. is a young and dynamic Swiss company specialized in natural fibre composites. We de-velop, produce, and supply natural fibre reinforcements and preforms with high specific stiffness, for applications in the sports & leisure, motorsports, marine, aerospace and large-scale automotive indus-tries. The R&D department needs support to produce and test material samples, research, develop and validate new or existing material solutions and processes. This may involve being assigned to a long-running development project with important responsibilities and / or smaller supporting tasks for the R&D team.

• B.Sc. (or equivalent) in Textile engineering. Candidates with Material Science and/or Mechanical engineering backgrounds may be considered.
• Interest in composite manufacturing and materials science.
• Experience with technical and/or natural fibre yarns and textile.
• Knowledge on fibre preparation, spinning and weaving, especially with bast fibres. Experience with dyeing is a plus.
• Driving curiosity for independent problem solving.
• Able to work autonomously and share relevant information with the team.
• Structured way of working with an ability to handle many projects in parallel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. French or German is a plus.

The list below is meant to illustrate the tasks you might be asked to do. It is not fixed and can be dis-cussed with Bcomp depending on your strength and Bcomp’s needs.

• Support R&D and quality teams in yarns and textiles validation for production / Skills: Textile characterisation methods, QMS.
• Support R&D and quality teams in characterisation of dyed yarns and fabrics / Skills: spectrophotometer, dyeing processes.
• Evaluate suitability of new yarn categories for composite in light of customers’ requirements / Skills: Textile characterisation methods, composite manufacturing and characterisation.
• Evaluate suitability of new weaves for composite in light of our customers’ requirement /Skills: weaving, composite manufacturing and characterisation.
• Develop measurement methods for fibres’ properties characterisation /Skills: Textile characterisation methods, bast fibres.

• 1’500 CHF / month gross salary (pro rata)
• 2.5 weeks paid vacation for 6 months (pro rata)
• High level of expertise to learn from and progress on composite manufacturing, testing, design, life cycle analysis, etc.
• Flexible and welcoming work environment
• Automatic authorship for publications / patents related to the work.
